How should OUSD communicate with families?

PerspectivePublished 6/25/2026Updated 6/25/2026

Clear communication builds trust.

Families should be able to understand what decisions are being made, why they matter, and how those decisions affect students, teachers, and schools. That does not mean every decision will be easy or universally popular, but it does mean the process should be clear, respectful, and accessible.

As a board member, I would support communication that is timely, plain-spoken, and focused on helping families understand both the decision and the reasoning behind it.
